The Strip forms a study of the forms of an urban city, acting as a taxonomy of industrial architecture and taking its cues from the work of Venturi and Scott Brown’s Learning from Las Vegas and Bernd and Hilla Becher’s oeuvre. The intricacies of the 3D printing found in this series emulate the intricate steelwork and repeated motifs that speak of the craft, as well as the functionality of industrial design.

Yet, as with Alterfact’s other work in printing ceramic designs, the forms belie the industrial process of 3D printing to create stable and viable structures. The topologies emulate the clarity of an engineer's drawing, though these structures remain only a simulacrum of industrial architecture, their usefulness and utility stripped away by the limitations of their medium, which renders the objects neither water-tight, nor structurally sound.

The Strip was exhibited at The Jam Factory, Adelaide in 2017 and at the Manningham Ceramics Award 2017.
